Posts about miscellaneous information technology "stuff"

Soooooooo many people are out there blogging, blogging, blogging.  I admit it, I can't keep up.  Maybe it's better to say, "I choose not to keep up."  I know how long it takes to write a good blog post (at least for this average human BEAN).

So, instead of writing a lengthy article on why I can't keep up (which I would like to do, but it would cut against the grain of this post), I will post a link to something representative of those issues faced by the "Free/Open-Source Software World."  Enjoy!

Yeah, I know, hard to believe, isn't it?

Shorcuts

<WINDOWS KEY> + E = Open Windows Explorer

<WINDOWS KEY> + R = Opens "Run" Dialog

<WINDOWS KEY> + D = Minimized all windows (and restores them)

Run Commands

dsa.msc = Opens Active Directory Users and Computers

\\computername = Opens Windows Explorer and shows all viewable shares on a computer on your network

control netconnections = Opens your Network Connections

control = opens your control panel

Those are just a few I find useful!  What do you run from the command line?

Enjoy!

Ever searched for user or computer objects in Active Directory, only to find that search results do not display WHERE the object exists in AD?  Take for example, the simple user search.  You can see the user exists, but what OU are they in?  WHERE ARE THEY???

Help is here, my friends, do not worry.  You can actually view the canonical names of the objects returned in your query!  This allows you to see which OU the object is in!  Check it out... next time you're in AD, just click the view menu and add the column: X500 Distinguished Name!
